Billinghurst Whitworth rifle with false muzzle for cross patch
My Whitworth rifles from caliber .42 can be fitted with a false muzzle.
The reason for the false muzzle is protect the real muzzle from wear and tear during cleaning and loading.
Barrels with a false muzzle can also be made for shooting with cross patch. By means of the cross patch, the bullet is separated from the barrel. As there is no metal connection between the barrel and the bullet, the barrel cannot be fouled by lead.
